Personal Flotation Devices One approved Type I, II, III or IV PFD (life vest) for each person on board or being towed One approved Type I, II or II device for each person on board or being towed plus one type IV device
Bell, Whistle, Horn Every vessel less than 39.4' in length must carry an efficient sound producing device Vessels 39.4' but less than 65.6' in length must carry a whistle and bell. The whistle must be audible for 1/2 nautical mile. The mouth of the bell must be at least 7.87" in diameter
Visual Distress Signals (for coastal waters only) Must only carry approved visual distress signals for nighttime use (Applies to boats in this class carrying size or more passengers for hire) Must carry visual distress signals approved for both daytime and nighttime use
Fire Extinguisher (Coast Guard approved only) At least one B-I type approved hand portable fire extinguisher (Not required on outboard motorboats less than 26' in length and not carrying passengers for hire if the construction of such motorboats will not permit the entrapment of explosive or flammable gases or vapors and if fuel tanks are not permanently installed) At least two B-I type approved portable fire extinguishers OR at least one B-II type approved portable fire extinguisher At least three B-I type approved portable fire extinguishers OR at least one B-I type PLUS one B-II type approved portable fire ewtinguisher
